FIVE persons were injured after steel braces in the ongoing Skyway extension project along Osmeña Highway in Metro Manila collapsed, causing heavy traffic along the area.
The project contractor, DM Consunji Inc. (DMCI), asked for apologies for the heavy traffic caused by the incident, as both lanes along the highway were closed.
Two private vehicles were also damaged.
Injured were five construction workers identified as Norman Nicolas, Ronald Degamo, Jerwin Deocarisa, JR Balaquidan, and Guillermo Santos Jr., said Chief Inspector Libreto Buisan, deputy chief for operations of the Makati Police.
“We are now attending to our workers and fast tracking the clearing operations to make the affected portions of Osmeña Highway passable to motorists. We expect to clear the area by 3 p.m. today,” said the DMCI.
The contractor advised the motorists to take alternative routes to avoid the heavy traffic in the area.
It assured though that safety and technical personnel are already on the site to conduct investigation on the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
