Western Visayas police launch new fitness program

THE Police Regional Office (PRO) in Western Visayas on Monday, July 17, accepted the national challenge of Philippine National Police(PNP) chief Ronald Dela Rosa to lose weight within six months under the program “Oplan Kill Bilbil: Slim Possible.”

Police Senior Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag led the formal debut of the Functional Fitness Training Program, a wholistic approach to fitness combining physical conditioning, yoga, mixed martial arts, calisthenics, gymnastics and plyometric workout in order to achieve desired body condition.

The program is a collaborative effort of the PNP-Western Visayas Regional Office, the Regional Advisory Council for Police Transformation and Development (RACPTD)-Western Visayas, JCI Iloilo IlangIlang Inc., and Storm Fitness Club.

The fitness program is aimed to develop competent, motivated, values-oriented and disciplined PNP personnel in Western Visayas by providing a more scientific training routine that will help them achieve their physical fitness goal as well as boost their self-esteem, thus, raising the bar of their performance at work.

The launching was marked with the signing of a memorandum of agreement between Binag, National Economic and Development Authority-Western Visayas Director Ro-Ann Bacal, who is vice president of RACPTD 6, Haycia Kamil Olivar, president of JCI Iloilo IlangIlang Inc., and Marlon Val Jucaban, head coach of Storm Fitness Club.

Binag said he believes that the program will have the most comprehensive approach to fitness, thus, equipping the police personnel in the region with the most modern and functional mental and physical strength and alertness. (PR)
