Vegetable, fruit prices stable in Davao market

PRICES of vegetables and fruits remained stable as of Monday based on the price monitoring conducted by SunStar Davao at the Bankerohan Public Market.

Garlic is at P80 per kilogram (kg), ampalaya at P45/kg, squash or kalabasa at P6/kg, sitaw at P35/kg, onion at P50/kg, mango at P90/kg, avocado at P40/kg, pomelo at P120/kg, lakatan at P40/kg, and latundan at P35/kg.

Mangosteen and lanzones are seasonal fruits and are not yet available in the market.

However, there was also an increase in the prices of some vegetables.

Tomato increased to P45/kg this week from P30/kg last week, carrots are now at P50/kg from P40/kg, and cabbage is now at P70/kg from P65/kg.

A drop in the prices of eggplant and okra was also noted. Eggplants are now at P25/kg from P27/kg while okra is at P20/kg from P30/kg.

The reason for the increase or decrease of the prices is based on how plenty or how little the harvest is for the week. If the harvest is more than the average of the original quantity, the prices drop. However, if the harvest isn’t enough, then the prices increase.
