HS student created bomb hoax, says official

CEBU City Councilor Dave Tumulak, deputy mayor for peace and order, confirmed that it was a female high school student who posted about the bomb hoax in Mambaling National High school on Facebook with a fake account last Wednesday noon.

The student disseminated the bomb threat on Facebook with a fake account holder “Diana Dela Cruz” to scare the people, Tumulak said.

Tumulak said the student is from Mambaling National High school and is a member of a fraternity.

He said they already have a name, but they need more confirmation from teachers and parents to clearly identify the female student.

He also said that once the student is identified, she will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare Services (DSWS) for counseling.

Tumulak is encouraging the teachers to recognize fraternities to empower them so they can help secure the schools.

Emergency protocols and procedures of bomb threats will be taught in schools and City Hall to avoid panic and stampede, he added. (Angel Mae C. Bellita, MSU Intern)
