Magis FC leads way in Cagayan de Oro

AFTER the successful staging of the Barangay Carmen Football Festival last week, the Magis Football Club (FC) I believe is in the right path in leading the way to the football development in Cagayan de Oro City.

Since the club was founded in 2003 by a bunch of former Xavier University varsity players, the new dynamic leadership of Engineer Edwin Bernas and his work horse Don Deriquito has brought the club one step higher.

The Carmen Fiesta Football festival was not their first project this year but so far is the most impressive. Magis FC also organized the Milo Summer Football Clinic also at the Westridge Sportspark.

Magis FC has even made Westridge its home field. The club has organized football clinics in Westridge every Saturdays and Sundays for the young and inspiring footballers.

Magis FC is the only football club in Cagayan de Oro that is registered with Security Exchange Commission (SEC). It has even overtaken the local FA, Mocagesco RFA in registering the SEC.

The Carmen Fiesta Football Festival was only a start for the club in organizing tournaments for the local football community. Magis FC is planning to hold a memorial football festival in honor of the former Magis FC president Romee Subere in September.

Subere was an active football coach and organizer but died of cardiac arrest last year.

Magis is a Latin word meaning better which is ascribed to St. Ignatius's exercise of doing more for God. Magis FC mission is doing better for football is beginning to become a reality.
