Creation of Architect Office in LGUs sought

CLARK FREEPORT – Officials of the United Architects of the Philippines are calling for the creation of Architect’s Office in local government units (LGUs).

The UAP officials, headed by National President Architect Guillermo Hisancha, disclosed this during the Joint Induction Ceremonies of the UAP District A2B at the Widus Convention Center here recently.

Hisancha said that the UAP has sent communications to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the full implementation of the Republic Act 9266 or the Architecture Act of 2004.

UAP National Executive Vice President Benjamin Panganiban, Jr. said that the Local Government Code provides for the establishment of city and municipal architect that can work hand in hand with city local government engineers and building officers.

Hisancha meanwhile revealed his intention to unite all Filipino architects all over the world.

The UAP head said his vision is anchored on ideals of UAP – Unity, Accountability, and Professional Excellence.

Hisancha thanked members and officers of UAP for the organization’s accomplishments.

“We made another history which will make us motivated to achieve better performance and follows with rendered service. These past few months have been very challenging for all of us. Through the efforts of many of you who have persisted and I am so proud to emphasize that we have prevailed. These are all signs that we are a strong organization,” Hisancha said.

For his part, newly-installed UAP Angeles Chapter President Andy Gulapa said that architects can help in solving traffic and flooding problems in the localities.

Aside from these, the Architect’s Office can implement the Green Building Code in consonance with the government’s program in addressing environment issues which include global warming and climate change.

UAP District A2B consists of at least eight chapters all over Central Luzon – UAP Alaya-Angeles Chapter, Balanga-Bataan Chapter, Pampanga-San Fernando Chapter, Tarlac Chapter, Angeles Chapter, Clark Chapter, Sinukwan –Pampanga Chapter, and Zambales-Olongapo Chapter.
