Obenita, Paculan lead ranking evaluation tourney

PHILIPPINE Archery League veteran Cyrus Ebenezer Obenita shot 1106 while Mafoi Ena Paculan fired 1037 to top the cadet division of the recently concluded Batang Pinoy Ranking Evaluation tournament at the archery range of the Baguio Athletic Bowl.

Obenita fired a best 290 points in 50 meters while scoring another high of 266 in the 60 meter enroute to winning first place in the cadet male division besting Ghedreich Mon Alimba(878) who settled for second while Yno Anton Marcus Soltez (817) salvaged third.

In the distaff side, Paculan had the best total from the four distances to top the contest edging Andrea Alvaro and Aiesha Daquiaog who both settled for second and third with their 1033 and 942 points respectively.

In the cub category, Trent Travis had 1149 points to top the male division with Earl Daniele Calera firing 1133 to settle for second as Samuel Joseph Laging came in third with his 1031.

The female side saw Danielle Jasmin Espiritu firing a best 1250 while Adrienne Ysabel Parayno was 17 points short against Espiritu to settle for second place with Resha Dawn Ronquillo salvaging third for her 1100 points.

Denny Hanz Binha-on clinched the novice division while the distaff side saw Brail Chenna Clotario and Jouana Puchidon bagging the first and second place respectively.

The bowman category saw Jemuelle James Espiritu placing first edging Alon Yuan Jucutan and Albert Gambican who settled for second and third as Jerla Aurienne Katrina Gaona topped the female side with Pheby Latawan and Damariz Gabrielle Calera in second and third.

Darick Faroden scored 544 points to top the yeoman category as Seph Latawan settled for second place.

In the para achery category, James Seg-ed Jr. had 499 points to bag first place as Allan Campos came in second with 495 points while Giovanni Ola had 491 to settle for third place.

Asean Para Games female archer Agustina Bantilloc finished with 268 points topping the female division while Rapunzel Agud was good for second place.

Coach John Hongitan said the event aims to provide participants tournament exposure among archers to become more productive and competitive in representing Baguio City in the field of archery.

The two day tournament was spearheaded by the Baguio City Archery Club in cooperation with World Archery Philippines, Department of Education Baguio Division, City of Baguio and Baguio City High School. (Roderick Osis)
