IN A span of one year, the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao has recorded a total of 64,032 drug surrenderers from July 2016 up to July this year across the region during their intensive anti-drug campaign.
According to PRO-Davao spokesperson Police Senior Inspector Catherine dela Rey, they attributed the accomplishment in the proactive response of different sectors in the call of President Rodrigo Duterte to fight the illicit drug menace in the country.
Aside from that, they credited it to the intensified campaign and operations against illegal drug user and dealers and effective information dissemination on the ill effects of illegal drugs to the community.
"Participation of other government agencies and active support of the local government," dela Rey said.
For their project double barrel accomplishment from July 1, 2016 to July 23, 2017, they have visited a total of 76,994, and conducted 2,499 drug bust operations.
They have arrested 1,996 and a total of 139 were killed in police operation.
