Fast food joint employee shooter surrenders to police

THE man who shot dead a fast food joint employee on Wednesday afternoon, July 26, in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City, surrendered to police hours after the incident.

The suspect was identified as Rolando Ybañez, 34, while the victim was Crisanto Amoranto, 21.

Ybañez admitted that he shot Amoranto from behind while the victim was waiting for a jeepney ride around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Barangay Carreta.

He turned himself to Parian Police Station around 12:10 a.m. Thursday, July 27.

Ybañez said he was mad at the victim, who allegedly hit him in the head two months ago. He did not elaborate on the reason why the victim hurt him.

The suspect said he did not plan to kill the victim, but he got carried away by his anger after seeing Amoranto.

Ybañez, a welder, said the firearm he used was from a friend. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
