Drug surrenderers, village chiefs in NegOcc negative for drugs

THIRTY-SIX drug surrenderers and eight village chiefs in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental were tested negative of illegal drugs.

Senior Inspector Alan Reloj, town police chief, said the test was conducted at the Farmers’ Center in Barangay 5 around 1 p.m. last Tuesday.

Of the 96 surrenderers, only 36 were present during the test. Only eight of the total 15 village chiefs underwent the test because the rest had appointments.

“This is part of the police’s continuous monitoring and intensified anti-illegal drug campaign,” Reloj said.

Meanwhile, Reloj said they are hoping the six villages in the town will be declared free from illegal drugs next month.

He added that they are on the process of complying with the requirements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Drug Agency (PDEA) based on the new guidelines of the Dangerous Drug Board.

Reloj said they are also eyeing for the town to be recognized as a drug-free work place, covering all business establishments and the municipal hall.
