Marawi evacuees invited to Kadayawan village

THE 1,207 evacuees from Marawi were invited to visit Kadayawan village located at Magsaysay Park, Davao City.

Maranao tribe deputy mayor Randy Usman in Thursday's edition of I-Speak media forum said they extended the invitation to the evacuees to visit the Kadayawan village also to ease their trauma from the Marawi siege.

"Gusto nato makita nila para mawala ang ilang trauma (We want them to see the village also to ease their trauma)," Usman said.

At present, the evacuees are staying in Calinan, Toril, Lubugan, Bankerohan, Barangay 19, Barangay 37, Barangay 23, and Doña Salud, Sasa, Davao City.

The Maranao tribe, which is the main tribe of the evacuees who fled to the city, will be displaying their own "Torogan" house, a tribal house where important meetings of leaders are held.

Usman said the culture of Maranao tribe will be showcased.

Aside from Maranao tribe, different tribal houses of Bagobo-Klata, Ata Manobo, Maguindanawon, Matigsalug, Sama, Tausug, Kagan, Ovu-Manobo, and Iranun will also be showcased as well as their culture, food, and traditions.

A stage will also be placed near the houses and starting August 14, cultural dances and presentation will be showcased by the tribes.

The Kadayawan Village will be launched on the same day of the opening of Kadayawan, which will also be held at Magsaysay Park.
