BACOLOD City has a total of 843 clustered precincts for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and barangay elections this coming October, records of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed.
City Election Registrar Mavil Majarucon-Sia said they are already done with their preparation for the October 23 elections.
She said they are now printing the list of voters.
Bacolod City has a total of 291,801 regular voters and 93,139 SK voters.
Majarucon-Sia said Provincial Election Supervisor Jessie Suarez instructed them on Wednesday to coordinate with the City Treasurer's Office for the availability of the yellow ballot boxes.
“It will be a manual elections. The Comelec main office instructed us to prepare because the barangay and SK elections will push through unless the Congress will pass a bill to postpone it again,” she added.
Majarucon-Sia also dismissed speculations that there will be no barangay and SK elections, saying there is no basis.
President Rodrigo Duterte did not mention the postponement of the October elections during his State of the Nation Address on Monday, July 24.
Majarucon-Sia said they already received the calendar of activities for the elections.
Based on Resolution No. 10177 or the calendar activities of the Comelec, the filing of the certificate of candidacy will be on September 23 to 30.
The campaign period will be held on October 13 to 21. Ages 15 to 30 can vote for SK, but only those 18 to 24 years old can run for a post.
