Lead Davao to award more leaders

THE Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Davao recently launched the 2017 Leaders and Achievers of Davao (Lead) Awards, officially opening the nomination for Dabawenyos of this generation.

Lead is an annual flagship project of JCI Senate Davao started in 2003, which aims to recognize Dabawenyos who have made great contributions to the development of the city.

The nominees should be those who excel in their business, profession or advocacies, giving honor to the city.

"We hope that the awards we give do not only recognize them but also inspire all Dabawenyos to strive hard and prosper for the glory of the city," said Luciano Frederick Puyod III, 2017 Lead Project chairperson.

For this year's Lead Award, Puyod said they will be using social media as a tool to influence more Dabawenyos in nominating those who they think are deserving of receiving such award.

Also, Lead Davao, along with its award launching, revealed its newest logo that reflects the three main core of the award - leadership, community, and recognition.

The nomination has already started last July 25 and is open to all 40 years-old and above male and female who have made significant contributions in the city.

"We confine the award to 40 years and above because it is within this age range that the individual shall reach the full potentials of her activities and contributions to society,” Lead Award Founder Bobby Orig said.

All nominated Dabawenyos will be asked to submit their bidbooks, or the compilation of their personal, leadership, and contribution information, until September 15.

The awarding ceremony will not be joined in the JCI Senate Davao's Christmas party, like in the past years, to provide more exclusiveness to the ceremony.

Past Lead Davao awardees are: Joji Ilagan Bian (business and education), Carolyn O. Arguillas (journalism), Jose Iñigo l. Ayala (arts and music), Margie Moran Floirendo (community service), Antonio T. Uy (government service), Retired Police Supt. Dionisio C. Abude (community service), Dance maestra Lourdes Carmen D. Locsin (arts), and Dr. Leopoldo J. Vega (health sector). Nomination forms are available at the Lead Award Facebook page or contact Project Chairperson Luciano Puyod III, email lead@jcienatedavao.org or 09228032490.
