Phil, James Younghusband sign deal with Davao Aguilas

ONE of the two newest professional football team in the land, the Davao Aguilas Football Club, has broken the bank and is signing the faces of Philippine football Phil and James Younghusband from FC Meralco-Manila before the transfer deadline ends this September.

The contracts of James and Phil with Meralco will end soon and they have asked for release from Manila-Meralco to allow them to transfer to Davao.

FC Meralco chief executive officer Randy Roxas confirmed this in a statement on their Facebook page and thanked the brothers for playing with Meralco since 2011.

Roxas said that they tried to extend the brothers contract but James and Phil opted to play for Davao.

According to sources in the Aguilas’s camp, the brothers approached them and asked if they could play for the Jeffrey Cheng owned franchise.

Speculations in the social media proved to be true after all as James and Phil want to sign lucrative new contracts as their playing years are getting shorter.

The Aguilas are on intensive buildup now as the transfer window has opened. They are ready to break the bank to achieve glory in the ongoing Philippines Football League.

They have also signed some veteran players from the other clu ALCADEV INC. bs. Newly signed are Simone Rota, Nick O’Donnell, Jason De Jong and Mathew Hartman.

The San Miguel Corporation backed Aguilas acquired Rota from Ceres Negros FC, De Jong also from Ceres, O’Donnell from Global FC, and Mathew Hartman also from Global FC.

The Aguilas also signed a tall striker from Australian Club Western Pride Harry Sawyer. He shows impressive form in his matches against different clubs in Australian A-League in YouTube. He is strong and fast and a very good goal scorer.

Davao Aguilas owner Jeff Cheng is a part owner of the Western Sydney Wanderers football club of Australia's top tier, the A-League.

The Wanderers stunned the Asian football firmament by winning the AFC Champions League crown in 2014, barely two years after being founded.

Cheng, a long time supporter of the Philippine Youth football teams, is trying to duplicate his success with the Wanderers and this time with the help of the country’s biggest company, San Miguel Corporation.

The Aguilas right now are second from the bottom of the table with five points, just two points ahead of cellar dwellers Ilocos United Football Club.
