CSF mayor celebrates birthday with medical mission

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Mayor Edwin Santiago celebrated his 58th birthday on Sunday with a medical and dental mission that benefited hundreds of residents of Barangay San Pedro Cutud here.

Santiago led the city’s health team composed of doctors, nurses, midwives, health workers and volunteers in the medical and dental mission for 1,500 residents.

According to the mayor, a recipient of Superbrands Most Outstanding Mayor Awards 2015, he no longer asks for personal gifts but only desires continuous relay of good public service to all Fernandinos.

“Ang kaarawan ay isang pasasalamat, sa Panginoon, sa mga kasama sa buhay, hindi kailangan ng magarbong pagdiriwang para dito, at bilang isang lingkod bayan mas pinili naming [Santiago Family] na makapiling ang mga Fernandino.”

Together his wife, Marilou, they led the outreach program by distributing maintenance medicines to more than 500 senior citizens. Other medical services given are free electrocardiogram, fasting blood sugar test, feeding program, distribution of PhilHealth Member’s Data Record, among others.

Afterwards, the mayor attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the covered court near the Barangay Hall. This is part of the LGU’s thrust of bringing development’s in the city’s 35 barangays. Three upgrading projects of roads and two constructions of lined canals are also set this year.

To cap the activity, Mayor EdSa, together with City Councilors Harvey A. Quiwa, Nelson G. Lingat, Benedict Jasper Lagman, Barangay Officials, City Hall department heads, joined Fernandino residents in a boodle fight meal.

Meanwhile, more than 2,500 health packs consist of first aid kits and medicines were distributed to Barangay Sta. Lucia and San Nicolas as part of the mayor’s natal day celebration.
