THE Mandaue City Government allocated P5 million for the month-long activities of the 48th City Charter Day anniversary this month.
In line with the City Government’s celebration, the Mandaue City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) will launch the Mandaue Business Month (MBM) at the Alpa City Suites at 9 a.m. today.
In a press conference, Councilor Carmelino del Mar, executive chairman of the 48th Charter Day celebration, said they already approved a resolution requesting the Office of the President to declare Aug. 30 as a special non-working holiday in Mandaue for the charter day celebration.
Among the highlights of the celebration will be the grand opening of the Food Park at the Heritage Plaza, which is in front of the City Hall, on Aug. 4; inter-department sports opening on Aug. 11; Taxpayer’s Awards Night on Aug. 29; and the MBM 2017 launching today.
“This year we will have more sport’s activities, including a pistol firing competition, which will be participated by the employees, barangay officials, police, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in the city,” he said.
Del Mar said they canceled the parade to avoid traffic.
Elected and appointed officials, and regular employees will get P10,000 cash as anniversary bonus.
Mayor Luigi Quisumbing said they are trying to find a way on how to recognize the efforts of the job order employees, who have been dedicated and hardworking in their jobs.
The MCCI led by its president Glenn Soco lined up several activities, including a disaster preparedness seminar.
Steven Yu, chairperson of MBM 2017, said the Gawad Linaw Awards will be on Aug. 23, exhibit of high-value manufactured products at the Mandani Bay on Aug. 23 to 25, MCCI Business Summit on Aug. 24, and Chamber Night and Mandaue Chamber Awards on Aug. 31. (FMG)
