Bank lending up

PRELIMINARY data show that outstanding loans of commercial banks, net of reverse repurchase (RRP) placements with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, grew 19 percent in June from 18.7 percent in May.

Likewise, bank lending inclusive of RRPs expanded by 18.3 percent in June from 17.4 percent in the previous month.

Loans for production activities—which comprised 88.5 percent of banks’ aggregate loan portfolio, net of RRP—grew 17.9 percent in June from 17.6 percent in May. (PR)
