Bulk water firm secures building permit

THE Office of the Building Official (OBO) in Bacolod City has confirmed that the Bacolod Bulk Water Inc. (BBWI) has secured a building permit for the construction of its facilities in Barangay Granada.

OBO head Isidro Sun Jr. said they released the building permit of the BBWI on July 27 after the firm paid almost P56,000 in surcharges.

Last month, the OBO served the second notice of violation to BBWI for the construction of its facilities without building permit.

The BBWI committed violations of the National Building Code (Presidential Decree 1096) and its implementing rules and regulations for the construction of its water treatment plant and intake structure facilities without the required OBO permit.

Sun said the BBWI only secured the building permit and it’s separate from the occupancy permit that is required for the firm to start delivering its services.

“After the construction of their facilities, they need to apply for occupancy permit at OBO,” he said.

BBWI was contracted by Bacolod City Water District to deliver sufficient water supply projected to cover the four million liters of water shortage a day and create a surplus at specified injection points beginning October 2017.

Ryan Yapkianwee, chairman of BBWI, had earlier said they can start delivering water by October since they are almost finished with the pipe laying.
