Widus promotes responsible gaming

CLARK FREEPORT --- The Widus Hotel and Casino has initiated programs advocating responsible gaming.

In line with this, Widus forged an agreement Tuesday, August 1, with the Sagip Bie Foundation Incorporated and the Central Luzon Drug Rehabilitation Center.

Neki Liwanag, Widus Assistant Vice President for Corporate Planning and Compliance, said the new partnership with these professional counseling and treatment facility for individuals with psychiatric or psychological problems aims to strengthen the company’s efforts in offering enjoyable and harmless gaming.

“While we do our best to provide exceptional world-class gaming experience, we also commit ourselves in upholding the highest standards to ensure a fair and safe gaming experience to minimize and ultimately prohibit the potential harm of gambling problems to individual players and the community,” Liwanag said.

Aside from adhering to Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation Code of Conduct for Responsible Gaming, Widus has also renewed its contract with Life Change Recovery Center, a Department of Health-accredited facility where people suffering from problem gambling may acquire help.

The Philippine Code of Practice on Responsible Gaming stated that while gaming is an enjoyable form of entertainment, it may also cause negative impacts to the player and his family and environment when done in excess.
