FOR seven straight years, the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao has continued to register a 100 percent passing rate in the architecture licensure exam, another proof of the excellent performance of the Davao City's higher education institutions in licensure and bar examinations.
UP-Mindanao has added another feather to its cap after 12 of its architecture graduates all passed the June 2015 licensure exam.
The new architects are Gwen Harriet Romuar Bautista, Karla Kressel Ladero Cereño, Agnes Sicabalo Canuto, Dairy Brylle Dagani Galua, Janreel Cagas Ignalig, Val Lois Gosimvino Longakit Israel, Lloyd Mark Alberca Monteveros, Jed Clinton De Guzman Obeña, Mark Lobusta Puso, John Alexander Ometer Setarios, Modesto Omerglenn Deverra Tolentino, and Myra Pecolados Zamora.
UP Mindanao Department of Architecture head Jean Marie Villamor-Juanga, told Sun.Star Davao through Facebook chat: "I had always attributed the success first to the Great Architect above all the great endeavors that the Department had accomplished. The consistent rating we have garnered is a collaborative effort and dedication of the Department of Architecture faculty to mentor with discipline the students not only to become top notch in their field but to have a noble aim in their personal pursuits."
While she admitted that their passers had gone through a lot when they were still studying at the state-run university, she said, "I know my students always saw me as a difficult mentor to reckon with. But life is always difficult. What is the point of giving an easy training? What is the point of accepting mediocrity? The most fulfilling aspect of all this is when they come back - thanking and realizing even beyond the board exam - that they have become very good in handling all kinds of pressure that they had to deal with."
The 12 graduates of UP Mindanao are among the 1,201 passers out the 1,964 examinees who took the licensure exam last June 12 and 14.
The registration for the issuance of the Professional Identification Card will open on July 9.
Requirements include the duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpang Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), one piece passport size picture (colored with white background and complete name tag), two sets of metered documentary stamps and one short brown envelope with name and profession.
Registration fees, meanwhile, are pegged at P600 for the initial registration and P450 for the annual registration for 2015-2018.
