BACOLOD City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. will conduct the first public hearing on the proposed Animal Welfare Week on August 4, 10 a.m. at the Provincial Board Session Hall.
Gamboa’s proposed ordinance is entitled, “An Ordinance Setting Every First Week of July as Animal Welfare Awareness Week in the City Of Bacolod and Providing Funds therefore.”
It aimed to promote animal awareness in the City of Bacolod and shall involve the conduct of various activities and programs such as forum, seminars, workshops and dialogues to effectively inform the public of the different laws, rules and regulations.
To be led by the City Veterinary Office, with the Office of the Mayor as executive chairman, the proposed ordinance specifies the campaign for laws regarding the establishment, promotion and operations of all facilities utilized for breeding, maintaining, keeping, treating or training of all animals either as objects of trade or as household pets.
Councilor Bartolome Orola will serve as the co-author of the proposed ordinance.
