Security guard shoots, kills fellow worker

A MESSENGER was killed on Osmeña Blvd. in Cebu City yesterday.

The victim was identified as Mamerto Relacion, 28, a courier of a health insurance company.

He was shot in the chest by the company's security guard, Michael Manatad, at 3:30 p.m.

There was bad blood between the two men who had fought before the incident, police said.

Manatad surrendered to the Homicide Section an hour later.

SPO1 Winston Ybañez said Manatad is the younger brother of Supt. Conrado Manatad of the Mobile Patrol Group (MPG).

"He (Conrado) said that he will not tolerate his brother's act," Ybañez said.

Last Thursday, a businessman was killed by two unknown gunmen a few minutes after he left the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO).

Pinto Tambilawan Calil, 40, was driving his motorcycle with his wife when they were accosted by the gunmen on Sangi Road at the back of City Hall past 1 p.m.

They told Calil's wife to run, while they shot him in the head and in the back.

Twenty-three empty shells and seven slugs of a .45 pistol and a .9mm pistol were found at the crime scene.

Calil had just come from the LCPO Traffic Police Office to settle a vehicular accident that he was involved in.

SPO1 Luisito Ernie, investigator of the Homicide Section, said Calil was a resident of Sitio Iba, Barangay Basak.

Police have yet to determine the motive of the shooting. (JOB, FMG)
