Ceres bus catches fire in Negros Occidental; passengers safe

AN AIR conditioned Ceres Liner bus in Negros Occidental caught on fire along Rizal Street in Barangay Poblacion, San Enrique on its way to La Castellana on Friday night, August 4.

Police said the bus was driven by Junrex Abrasaldo, 30, of Purok III, Barangay Poblacion, Mabinay, Negros Oriental.

The bus was loaded with 30 passengers.

The fire started at the rear portion of the vehicle around 10:50 p.m. The blaze was put out after 18 minutes.

All passengers were unharmed and were able to leave the vehicle with their personal belongings.

Senior Fire Officer Arnel Nonato, officer-in-charge fire marshal of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in San Enrique, said the damage was estimated at P100,000.

Nonato said investigation is still ongoing to determine the cause of fire, but he suspected it was due to a faulty wiring.

The BFP personnel are scheduled to meet with the representatives of Vallacar Transit Inc. on Monday, August 7.
