85% of hotel rooms booked for Kadayawan

HOTEL bookings for Kadayawan Festival in Davao City had already reached up to 85 percent, said City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO).

According to CTOO head Generose Tecson, this data include only 2-star hotels and higher. She also said they are hopeful that come August 17, bookings and accommodations in the city will be fully booked already.

“Our hotel sector reported that they have bookings for Kadayawan week and it’s already around 85 percent. We need more help from everyone by inviting their friends and relatives to join our Kadayawan Festival,” Tecson said.

It was earlier reported that since the declaration of Martial Law until the middle of June, the hotel sector had experienced losses of about P18 million due to cancellations of room bookings and cancellations. Tour operators, transport sector, and restaurants lost around P2 million.

Despite of this, Tecson remains positive as she said this was an initial reaction to Martial Law declaration and that they are hoping that the trend will change as Kadayawan Festival highlights come nearer.

In a separate report, Tourism secretary Wanda Teo will bring 70 Russians during the celebration.

As this is targeted to be one of the biggest and grandest Kadayawan celebration, 19 official events are scheduled from August 14 to 25.

“We are still putting everything together so in all probability it will be between P18 to P19 million for all of the activities that we have. In the city, we already have a budget of around P4 million and we also have savings from the past Kadayawan which is around P13 million, so in all that is what we are going to use,” Tecson said.
