Duterte to lead PNP rites

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte will lead the 116th Police Service Anniversary on Wednesday, August 9, at the Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald Dela Rosa and Interior and Local Government officer-in-charge Catalino Cuy will join the President during the ceremony.

Among the awardees this year is Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido, Ozamiz City police director, for his accomplishments in anti-illegal drugs.

PNP spokesperson Dionardo Carlos said among Espenido's accomplishments were the arrest of Albuera, Leyte mayor Rolando Espinosa in October 2016 and the neutralization of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog late last month.

Both local officials are included in Duterte's narco-list.

Dela Rosa earlier said clarified that Espenido was already on the line-up of awardees for this year even before the bloody raid in Ozamiz.

For their outstanding performance in the accounting of illegal drug personalities, National Capital Region Police Office chief Oscar Albayalde; Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 chief Aaron Aquino; and Police Regional Office 4A Ma O R Aplasca will receive awards.

Special Unit Awards will also be presented to the Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF), the police unit which is task was to run against erring cops under Police Senior Superintendent Jose Chiquito Malayo, for outstanding performance in counter-intelligence operations.

Duterte will also hand over special individual awards to PNP personnel cited for their roles in law enforcement operations on Marawi City. The awardees are the following:

- Superintendent Rex Arvin Malimban - deputy chief, logistics management division, PNP- Special Action Force (SAF)

- Superintendent Lambert Suerte - commanding officer, Rapid Deployment Battalion (RDB), PNP-SAF

- Senior Police Officer 1 Erwin Garalde - company executive senior police officer, 84th SAC, RDB, PNP-SAF

- Senior Police Officer 1 Jethri Amengan - senior counter terrorist operative (CTO) and extended range support team (ERST), 83rd Coy, RDB, PNP-SAF

Other police personnel to receive individual awards were:

- Senior Superintendent Jonnel Estomo (chief, management division, Directorate for Comptrollership) as best senior police commissioned officer (PCO) for administration

- Senior Superintendent Rene Pamuspusan (executive officer, Directorate for Operations) as best senior PCO for operation

- Chief Inspector Ford Sudaypan (chief, Strategy Review Scorecard, SAF) as best junior PCO for administration

- Chief Inspector Ritchie Yandug (officer-in-charge, Manolo Fortich MPS, PRO 10) as best junior PCO for operation

- Senior Police Officer 4 Francisco Alfeche (municipal executive senior police officer (MESPO), Malapatan MPS, PRO 12) as best senior police non-commissioned officer (PNCO) for administration

- Senior Police Officer 2 Harold Nicolas (Intelligence PNCO, PRO 1) as best senior PNCO for operation

- Police Officer 1 Juan Carlos Ventura (PIO, PRO 1) as best junior PNCO for administration

- Police Officer 2 Jhan Lay Apostol (Investigator PNCO, PRO 1) as best junior PNCO for operation

- Grace Abalde (admin officer V, PRO 10) as best non-uniformed personnel (NUP) for supervisory level

- Sheena Lyn Montiero (communication development officer 1, Police Community Relations Group) as Best NUP for non-supervisory level

- Senior Superintendent Rolando Anduyan (deputy regional director for operations, PRO – ARMM) as an individual award for crisis management in Marawi City.

Unit awardees were:

- Best Police Regional Office- PRO 1 headed by Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Charlo Collado

- Best Police Provincial Office- Sorsogon police provincial office (PPO), PRO 5 headed by Provincial Director, Police Senior Superintendent Ronald Cabral

- Best City Police Office -Iligan City Police Office, PRO 10 headed by Police Senior Superintendent Leony Roy Ga

- Best City Police Station- Vigan City police station, PRO 1 headed by Police Superintendent Marlo Castillo Jr.

- Best Municipal Police Station- San Jose Municipal Police Station, San Jose de Buenavista, PRO 6 headed by Police Chief Inspector Juvy Cordero

- Best Regional Public Safety Battalion- Regional Public Safety Battalion 12 headed by Battalion Commander, Police Superintendent Michael Lebanan

- Best Provincial Public Safety Company- Bukidnon Provincial Public Safety Company, PRO 10 headed by Police Superintendent Gervacio Balmaceda Jr.

- Best City Public Safety Company - Davao City Public Safety Company, PRO 11 headed by, Police Superintendent Ireneo Caburnay

-Best National Operational Support Unit- Maritime Group headed by Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales

- Best National Administrative Support Unit- Information Technology Management Service headed by Police Chief Superintendent Edwin Jose Nemenzo

- Best Women and Children Protection Desk- Regional Women and Children Protection Desk, PRO 7 headed by Police Chief Inspector Marilou Acuizon

- Best Regional Police Human Rights Desk- Regional Police Human Rights Desk, PRO 7 headed by Police Superintendent Maribel Getigan

- Best Police Strategy Management Unit- Regional Police Strategy Management Unit, PRO 13 headed by Police Senior Superintendent Gimili Macaraeg.
