A SUSPECTED drug pusher, allegedly a former underling of a slain drug lord, was killed in a shootout with the police in Sitio Sioux, Barangay Poblacion East, Moalboal yesterday afternoon.
Chief Insp. Jose Rovic Villarin, the town police commander, identified the fatality as Ryan Redoble, who had been listed as a high-value target. Villarin said Redoble was under Christian Aquino, who was killed after he shot it out with the Regional Intelligence Division operatives in Mandaue City last May 25. Aquino was allegedly one of the lieutenants of self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones.
A receipt recovered from Redoble stated that he sent P40,000 to a person in Cebu City, which made Villarin believe Redoble had a new boss.
In yesterday’s operation, police tried to arrest Redoble through a buy-bust. When the suspect noticed he was dealing with an undercover police, he drew out his firearm and started shooting. The operatives retaliated and hit him.
He was declared dead at the Badian District Hospital. Seized from Redoble were 27 packs of “shabu,” drug paraphernalia, cell phone, repacking devices, a .38 revolver loaded with three bullets and an empty shell in the chamber, and P800. (KAL)
