NHA set to turn over more permanent shelters

THE National Housing Authority (NHA), in coordination with the local government, is set to turn over another batch of permanents shelters to families displaced during the September 2013 siege.

The turnover of the permanent shelters will be held in coordination with the City Government. The shelters were built through the Zamboanga City Roadmap to Recovery and Rehabilitation (Z3R).

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the next batch beneficiaries will composed of 433 Badjao families, who will be transferred to their permanent housing units at the Phase III of Vale Vista Subdivision in the village of Kasanyangan.

Salazar said the turnover of the houses will be held on Monday, August 14, at the Centro Latino Convention Hall in Paseo del Mar.

She said the Valle Vista Z3R project has four phases and will be home to 3,405 siege–affected families who can no longer return to their places of origin earlier declared as no return zones or areas of concern.

The NHA reported that the 19 housing packages under the Z3R are almost complete with only about four packages left, the Rio Hondo (duplex loftable), Ayer village II at the Chiong property and Valle Vista IV.

The Z3R is the blueprint of houses constructed and built for the families displaced during the 21-day September 2013 siege.

The siege started when hundreds of Moro National Liberation Front members loyal to MNLF founding-chair Nur Misuari infiltrated around five coastal villages in this city. (SunStar Philippines)
