Cop shot dead in Panabo City

A POLICEMAN assigned at the Paquibato Police Station was shot dead on Wednesday morning, August 9, while riding his motorcycle on his way home in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.

Davao City Police Office city director Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum identified the victim as Senior Police Officer Orlando Tumarao Badar, 50.

He was killed around 7:00 a.m. at Tadeco road, Purok 2, Barangay New Malitbong, Panabo City.

Based on the initial investigation, the victim was wearing his Field Service Uniform and riding his motorcycle when another motorcycle approached, the passenger of which shot him several times in the head.

The victim was rushed to Rivera Medical Center but failed to reach the hospital alive.

Responding officers recovered from the crime scene three shells believed to be from a.45 caliber pistol.

Tagum said that based on the witnesses’ account, the perpetrators stole the service firearm owned by Badar.
