NINE senior high students of a Catholic school in Bogo City, Cebu, were brought to a government hospital on Thursday, August 10, after they fainted.
Local government responders denied claims that the students of St. Louise de Marillac College (SLMC) in San Vicente Village, Bogo City, experienced demonic possession, or suffered food poisoning.
Gepter Son Burlaos, emergency responder for the City of Bogo Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, told SunStar Cebu that two Grade 11 students were immediately brought to the school clinic after they suddenly fainted while attending class.
But while they were being treated by school officials, rumors suddenly spread among the student body that the students were possessed by demons.
These rumors caused a panic among the students, with some of them starting to hyperventilate.
Burlaos said after receiving the report, they immediately brought the two fainted students, including seven others, to the Cebu Provincial Hospital-Bogo City for immediate medical attention.
The nine students were eventually released to their parents a few hours later.
Due to the incident, the administration of SLMC had to suspend classes in the morning. (SunStar Cebu)
