Coop caretaker shot dead; another wounded

A 36-YEAR-OLD chicken coop caretaker was killed, while another was hurt after two men onboard a motorcycle shot them in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City, at dawn Thursday, August 10.

Leve Lapuerte was onboard a motorcycle driven by Manuel Echavez, 52, and were headed to Sitio Mananga 1 in Barangay Tabunok when two unidentified men onboard another motorcycle tailed them around 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

Police Officer 2 Jason del Campo of the Talisay City Police Station said the two unidentified men suddenly overtook Echavez’s motorcycle, and one of them pulled out a pistol and shot Lapuerte and Echavez.

Lapuerte sustained a fatal gunshot wound on his back and leg, while Echavez sustained a wound on his right arm.

Del Campo said that before the shooting, Lapuerte was in Barangay Jaclupan to tend to a chicken coop he was hired to guard.

Del Campo said they have yet to determine the gunmen. (JKV/SunStar Cebu)
