THE Bacolod City Council approved on Wednesday, August 9, the appropriation ordinance requested by City Mayor Evelio Leonardia appropriating P174 million for various expenses of the city.
Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran on Thursday, August 10, said Leonardia requested for a P174.283 million to be taken from General Fund with certification issued by City Treasurer Giovanni Balalilhe, City Accountant Ma. Corazon Cardel, and City Budget Officer Maria Imelda Williams.
He said the appropriation ordinance was unanimously approved by the City Council except for Councilors Ricardo Tan and Claudio Puentevella, who were out of the session hall. Councilor Cindy Rojas was on leave.
The fund is intended for the personal services of City Mayor’s Office, overtime, and night pay, P1.5 million; maintenance and other operating expenses of City Mayor’s Office like electricity expenses, P14 million; donations, P4.3 million; other professional services, P2 million; other maintenance and operation expenses, P2 million; various offices or general services, P116.153 million; Sangguniang Panlungsod general services, P2.4 million; Bacolod City College furniture and fixtures, P500,000; and Bacolod Housing Development or land improvement, P400,000.
Others are for special purpose appropriation such as five percent Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund, P5 million; terminal leave benefits, P500,000; back salaries and wages, P2.5 million; City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, P1 million; Tourism Development Fund, P2 million; and Environment Sanitary Services/Solid Waste Program or construction of sanitary landfill, P20 million.
Familiaran said the City Government will use the P20 million for the construction of the sanitary landfill cell for the implementation of the “no segregation, no collection policy” next month.
