Espina: Amcham goes Beatle mania

IT will be another exciting Philippine-American Friendship Day, when the American Chamber (Amcham), led by chair Consul John Domingo, celebrates the 50-plus years of presence of the phenomenal The Beatles in the United States musical charts and all over the world—especially in the Philippines.

The event dubbed Imagine (based on John Lennon’s hit), will titillate your imagination on how Amcham interprets the music of The Beatles, at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 4, at the Radisson Blu Hotel. The event team composed of John, Alice Woolbright, Zaide Zafra and MCE, under the baton of president Mark Van Doren and the board, will have more time for dancing and grand raffle prizes.

Guest performers include the Knapsack dancers, the four “Beatles” singers of the University of Cebu choir; Herbert Buot, selected Amcham board member doing Hard Day’s Night, Jazzie Burato doing Help and some other performers. See Alice and her group who will dance to the music of Stop in the Name of Love, mimicking The Supremes, frequent guests of The Beatles in their concert tours. Watch out for John Domingo singing Imagine backed up by the Lhuillier and Speechcom performers. And many, many more “Beatles delights.” Plus, other guest singers.

P1,500 is inclusive of dinner, a chance to win grand raffle prizes; be in your most Beatle-ish attire, or sing like the Beatles, and win some games and dance ‘til you drop with the Circle of Six with guest dancers. You will really imagine what fun you will have and toast to the PH-U.S. friendship.

The event will help Amcham’s various educational and community projects and industry-academe programs.
