THREE people died while seven others were injured in separate road accidents in Minglanilla and Medellin last Sunday.

At 2:30 a.m., police said that Edmund Gentica Padolina, 46, and his companion Richielda Cañones, 20, died after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into the gutter of the national highway in Barangay Linao-Lipata in Minglanilla.

Both suffered severe injuries in different parts of their bodies.

Residents rushed them to the nearby hospital, but they did not survive.

Witnesses told investigators that Padolina was driving the north-bound motorcycle while Cañones was riding pillion.

The motorcycle was seen swerving to the opposite lane before crashing to the gutter.

That afternoon, a tricycle fell into a 20-foot ravine in Barangay Antipolo, Medellin, said PO1 Rosano Queding.

Passenger Tranquillana Mangubat, 73, died on the spot.

The driver, Nathaniel Marijuan, 42, and six other passengers were injured.

Before the accident at 3 p.m., the tricycle came from Barangay Kawit.

The vehicle's front tire reportedly exploded.

Marijuan lost control and the tricycle fell into the ravine.

Queding said that the passengers were rushed to the town's public hospital, but were released after their wounds were treated.
