Sanchez: Waterless…again

YES, you can say waterless...again. And again.

How can we, as that song from The Sound of Music goes, solve a problem like Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa)? Last summer, I can agree why tap water was rationed. C’est la vie. That’s life in this era of climate change.

Who can argue with acts of God when this side of the globe is almost as dry as a desert? Force majeure. We are reaping what we sowed when humans messed up creation.

But August 2017? When acts of God consisted of afternoon downpours? When the problem is not the lack but the surfeit of water which is replenishing the aquifer and flooding some parts of Bacolod’s streets.

The whole weekend, no, make that the whole week, where I live in Alijis has no water starting from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. or 10 p.m.

The worst part is that I have no idea what’s happening. Getting information from Baciwa is like ferreting tactical military operation details from the Department of National Defense.

Read this on Baciwa website: “The Bacolod City Water District will conduct service improvement activities which will cause temporary water supply interruption and turbid water in the affected areas of Pagla-um Village, Villa Magdalena, Green Acres Subdivision, Hermelinda Homes, and Barangay Mansilingan proper. The interruption is from 1:00 a.m. (sic)-5:00 p.m., August 10, 2017.”

The time and date of this writing is 1:40 p.m. August 13, nope, as expected. No water. And no information too.

When I call Baciwa, I know I will get information from its consumer desk. Make that, its security guards.

In this day and age, I won’t expect any response from Bacolod City Water District (sic) Facebook fan page that has no post. Whatsoever. Zilch. It’s like being present. And yet absent.

Today, I will file a complaint and I have to call their office again. And pray that I’ll get a decent response.
