Expo to showcase Visayas potentials in tourism, investments

TOURISM and investment potentials of cities and municipalities in the Visayas, including Negros Occidental, will be showcased during the Kabisig Philippine Government Expo and Trade Fair 2017 in October.

Daniel Guillen, chairman of the Kabisig Peoples Movement, said Monday, August 14, they are bringing for the first time in the province the activity that will gather about 200 National Government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs), and local government units (LGUs) in the Visayas.

It will be held at SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City on October 17 to 19.

Guillen said that aside from the services offered by various agencies, the upcoming three-day activity will also feature the offerings of cities and municipalities in the Visayas in terms of tourism and investments.

“Through this event, we aim to further showcase the tourism capabilities of Negros as well as other provinces in the Visayas,” he said, adding that there is a huge investment potential in the region that needs to be further promoted.

The Kabisig Mindanao Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Davao City, has been doing the initiative for more than 20 years now.

The expo and trade fair is an information campaign effort that aims to “bring the good part of the government closer to the public.”

Guillen said President Rodrigo Duterte issued Memorandum Circular No. 19, encouraging everybody to support and participate so that they will know the various government agencies and their respective services.

The activity includes exhibits of the agencies’ programs and accomplishments along with tourism and investment display by the participating-LGUs.

“Most Filipinos only recognize the government agencies during anomalies thus, we hope to spur awareness among the people on the good things about them,” he said.

The President really wanted to bring the “good news” to the public so that they will appreciate it more, Guillen further said.

The activity in Bacolod City, the third leg for this year after Mindanao and Luzon, is strategically scheduled during the MassKara Festival to gather more people.
