Fun run benefits Baguio, La Trinidad schools

TWO schools in Baguio City and in La Trinidad, Benguet will benefit from a fun run that drew more than 100 participants.

Soroptimist International Cordillera Chapter President Maria Purificacion Nerez said the “Just For Fun Run” raised funds for the upgrading the libraries of Lucban Elementary School and the La Trinidad Central School.

“By having a better library filled with books, students are encouraged to read them and use them in their studies,” said Nerez.

Irineo Roquin topped the 10k run, with Cesar Castaneto Jr. finishing second and Carolino Jobert third.

Lani Cardona won the women’s race, followed by Mirasol Abad and Marynelle Morales.

Kevin Capampangan topped the men’s 5K, followed by Erwin Generalao and Isidro Adan Perpetua.

Divina Kitongan won the women’s 5K race, Cherry Doronilla was second and Sisa Caronongan was third.

Neri Elbren ruled the men’s 3K, Ray Mark Quezada came in second and Melvin Madongit third.

The women’s race was won by Kaizelle Vergara, with Jolina Jose finished second and Lilia Yatar third.

The Soroptimist International is a socio-civic organization composed of women. It has 79 chapters in the country.
