Fruit vendor arrested in PDEA bust

A RELATIVE of big-time drug personalities was caught in a buy-bust by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 operatives in Sitio Upper Manor, Barangay Tisa, Cebu City last Tuesday night.

Romualda Parba Camacho, a fruit vendor, yielded five grams of white crystals believed to be shabu worth P15,000.

The 49-year-old suspect is the aunt of suspected big-time drug pusher Lamy Parba—the Cebu City Jail inmate whose live-in partner, college student Mheacy Empasis was caught with another woman, yielding P12 million worth of shabu to Cebu City police in Tisa last week.

Empasis allegedly sourced her supply from Frederick Villamala, who was killed in a PDEA 7 operation in Barangay Sambag 1.

Camacho, before her arrest, sold fruits and operated a small store to hide her illegal activities, said PDEA 7 information officer Leia Albiar.

Other members of the suspect’s family, Albiar said, have been involved in the illegal drug trade for quite some time.

Camacho will be charged for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which punishes selling of shabu. (KAL)
