NFEM to mark 26th anniversary

THE Naval Forces of the Eastern Mindanao Command (NFEM) will be celebrating its 26th founding anniversary on September 4 with lined up series activities beforehand, as they also invited various stakeholders to join in the celebration.

Lieutenant James Reyes, spokesperson of NFEM, said that the celebration will be attended by Philippine Navy Chief Vice Admiral Ronald Joseph Mercado and other distinguished personalities.

As a run-up to their celebration, Reyes said that on August 10, NFEM conducted Ecological Solid Waste Management at Pedro S. Carriedo Elementary School, Buhangin, Davao City, while on Wednesday, August 16, they initiated mangrove tree planting and coastal clean-up drive activity at Barangay Cagangohan, Panabo City.

On Thursday, August 17, Reyes added that a Health Care Fair will be held at Camp Panacan Station Hospital and Dental Care Fair at AFPLC Elementary School.

On August 24, the military will hold a Coral Reef Preservation and Restoration Activity at Purok Seaside, Barangay Bago Aplaya in coordination with the The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

A fun run will also takes place on August 29 at Naval Station Felix Apolinario in Panacan and August 30 a feeding program will be initiated with the students of Tambungan Elementary Schools.

Meanwhile, Reyes said that in line with the city’s celebration of Kadayawan 2017, they have coordinated with other law enforcement unit to secure the maritime territories against the possible access of terrorist groups.

“Actually last week pa, all our floating assets continuous to conduct maritime security along Samal and the quick reaction team are on standby and augmentation to Joint Task Force Haribon for land components for our security,” Reyes said.
