Negrense booter signs up for JPV Marikina

To further strengthen its team in the ongoing Philippines Football League (PFL), the JP Voltes Marikina Football Club (FC) has signed former West Negros University Mustang striker Jaime Poderoso Jr.

The 30-year-old Negrense forward has formally transferred to the Marikina-based team from Leylam FC Cebu, and reunited with former college teammates Camelo Tacusalme, Lemuel Unabia, and Robert Cañedo.

J Baguioro is Poderoso’s former teammate in Ceres Negros Under-23 (U23), which won the 2011 PFF Suzuki Cup National Championship.

Poderoso described his first few sessions with JPV as quite hard as he needs to catch up with the team’s game pace.

“My first few days were really tough. I have to work double time,” he said.

“It’s really a blessing to be signed up by a national league after several years of absence in a high-quality game,” said Poderoso, who last played with Pachanga FC in the now defunct United Football League.

Poderoso is expected to provide more firepower to JPV alongside Felipe Tripulca Jr., Elijah Aban, Masaki Yanagawa, Jayson Cutamora, Sean Patrick Kane, Takumi Uesato, Ali Mahmoud, Satoshi Otomo, Takashi Odawara, Alen Angeles, Alexandro Elnar, Atsushi Shimono, Aaron Altiche, David Basa, William Espinosa, Kouichi Belgira, John Celiz, Jhoguev Ybañez, Nelson Gasic, Peter Fadrigalan, and Daishi Takano.
