Improve Indak venue eyed

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio assured that she will seek a better venue for the Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan next year.

The mayor on Saturday, August 19, said she noted that only limited number of persons have enjoyed the performance.

"My comment to the organizer is that maybe they should improve the venue kay luoy kaayo ang tao, nga naa sa gawas paningkamutan nga daghan ang makawitness sa pasundayag (Organizers should have a venue that could accommodate more people, who want to witness the performances)," she said.

Duterte-Carpio, however, lauded the placement of the Kadyawan Square, which benefitted the dancers.

"The Kadayawan square is for the benefit of the dancers dili kaayo init para sa ilaha given nga ang ubang areas sa street parade open jud init kaayo para sa ilaha so kani diri, importante para sa ila nga comfortable ang ilang pagperform aron nindot ang gawas (The Kadayawan square is for the benefit of the dancers which gave them shade unlike all he areas of the street parade which are open. So here what is important is their comfortability in their performance and that it may yield to best results)," she said.

Duterte-Carpio added that they are happy to note that security officers have not recorded any major community concern during the Kadayawan highlight events.

She also thanked city officials and private sector, who made the event possible.

The Kadayawan activities will end today with the Pamulak floral float parade competition that will also include the Pitik sa Kadayawan, a drum beating competition.

Duterte-Carpio said that all Dabawenyos are invited to join the event and advised the public to bring their umbrellas.

"I suggest magdala mo ug tubig, payong ug gagmayng makaon ninyo samtang magwitness mo sa parada (I suggest that you bring water, umbrella, and food while you witness the parade)," she added. (KVC)
