CEBU Gov. Hilario Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale condemned extrajudicial killings, the latest of which claimed the life of a 17-year-old Kian Delos Santos.
Police said that Delos Santos was involved in drugs. Davide said there should be a thorough investigation on the incident and those responsible should pay for it.
“We do not condone such practices. Hopefully, no similar incidents will happen here in Cebu.” Davide said.
Magpale said, “We do not question the wisdom of the president. If he thinks it’s the only way that we can control drugs, then go ahead. But they (police) have to be prudent.”
Magpale said that she heard from an interview that Delos Santos pleaded with his attackers not to kill him because he had exams the following day. Magpale said this saddened her because it showed that Delos Santos valued his education.
“To think he cared for his future, it hurts more especially to us advocates of childhood care. So as the governor said, we condemn the killing.” Magpale said. (Angel Mae Bellita, USJ-R Intern)
