Bzzzzz: Mike won’t share CCMC pledge list

ABOUT that list of people who pledged to donate various amounts of money for the construction of the new building of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC). Councilor Margot Osmeña had earlier asked for a copy of the list, as City Hall would probably ask the pledgors to deliver what they promised.

Former mayor Mike Rama wouldn’t give the list unless the pledgors would allow him to do so.

He told Atty. Frank Malilong of “Frankahay Ta” on dyCM radio the pledges were made to him and Councilor Joy Pesquera, not to Mayor Tomas Osmeña or his wife.

Mike may also see the pledges as having been given to the City of Cebu, not to Mike or Councilor Joy. And Mayor Tomas, representing the city, may want to have those pledges fulfilled.

But Mike earlier gave glimpses of what the promises consisted.

It could be Labella

Mike Rama said it would be Vice Mayor Edgar Labella who’d be Barug Team Rama’s candidate for mayor in 2019. Did Atty. Frank who reported the news yesterday hear Mike right?

Mike, Frank said, talked of “anointing” Edgar as their party’s bet for mayor. It’s still some two years away and a lot of things could happen.

Possibilities: BOPK might not field Tomas. Edgar might seek the same slot (this is his second consecutive term for vice mayor; he can still run for a third in 2019). Or there would be no more elections. President Duterte had talked about a revolutionary government. Dino could be the next mayor, a City Hall watcher quipped..

That DU30 visit

President Duterte’s visit last Thursday (Aug. 17) was short and hush-hush. His chopper landed on the helipad of a privately owned lot. His arrival at St. Peter’s funeral homes was not even noticed. It caused a stir among the crowd there when he started to leave, after his short visit to the wake of a relative of his partner Honeylet.
