A CAGAYAN de Oro City policeman was arrested by his fellow law enforcers in a drug bust operation at San Vicente, Casinglot, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, Wednesday, August 23.
Authorities identified the policeman as Police Officer 2 Arnold Almansor of Police Station 10 in Barangay Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City.
Almansor is detained at the police checkpoint near Koresko Hotel in Lumbia road.
The drug raid was jointly carried out by the Drug Enforcement Units of Misamis Oriental, the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo), and Tagoloan town police.
Operatives seized 12 sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” from Almansor.
Senior Superintendent Rolando Destura, provincial police director, said the items were brought to the crime laboratory.
Destura said the suspect, who has been under surveillance for over three weeks, did not resist arrest.
The provincial police director also said a deeper investigation will be conducted to identify Almansor’s supposed contacts in the illegal drugs trade.
"Ang PRO ug provincial police office dili mag-tolerate aning hiwi nga binuhatan. Padayon atong kampanya batok sa illegal nga droga (The Police Regional Office and Police Provincial Office don’t tolerate these wrongdoing. We will continue with our war on drugs)," Destura said.
Speaking in behalf of Cocpo, Chief Inspector Mardy Hortillosa II, Cocpo spokesperson, said Almansor will be made to face “the full force of the law.”
Hortillosa said the Cocpo leadership does not tolerate wrongdoing by policemen.
He said reports have been reaching the attention of the Cocpo officials on the suspect's drug involvement.
Hortillosa said Almansor will face illegal drug charges and will likely be booted out from the police service but will still be accorded with due process in facing administrative cases.
