THE Indak-indak sa Kadayawan last Saturday on August 19 has imbedded the colorful culture of the different tribes within and outside Davao City.
The crowd cheered for their different favorite contingents as 18 different schools compete for the title.
The Kadayawan Square was jampacked with photographers who were all eyes on the almost three feet tall stage where glorious presentations were held.
Diwatas, gods, and deities of different tribes surely cannot be missed.
It mirrored the celebration of joy, of safety of good harvest all the good things that the city is thanking for this Kadayawan week.
Proud winners amazed the crowd with their awesome performances.
Davao City National High School (DCNHS) Special Program in the Arts-Sining Sayon Dawet Culturan Ensemble, winner of the Davao-based competition, really deserved their award as they awed the crowd with its rendition of the story of the benevolent gods and deities with golden gongs which can produce sound with healing powers.
The beautiful sound healed the ailing community that led to celebration.
DCNHS bested eight other contingents. Sta-Ana National High School Performing Arts Guild was second while Buhisan Elementary School placed third. F. Bustamante Central Elementary School finished fourth followed by Jose Bastida Elementary School - Tribung Dumoyans in fifth.
The top five Davao-based category winners brought home P500,000, P200,000, P100,000, P75,000, P50,000 and P15,000.
Meanwhile the Asuncion, Davao del Norte Sagayen National School Performing Arts outshined eight other entries in the open category.
Four placers were Polomolok, South Cotabato-Landan National High School Performing Arts Group, Municipality of Compostela-Gabi National High School, Mati, Davao Oriental-Matiao National High School-Sambuokan Festival and Barangay Panay of Sto. Nino-Humungaway Performing Arts.
First five placers won P700,000, P400,000, P300,000, P200,000 and P100,000.
Truly, the Indak-Indak was a remarkable spectacle knowing that each of the dancers and the trainors of the students gave their all, gave their best on that stage.
And that effort itself and the wholehearted delivery made the overall event meaningful, exciting and truly unforgettable.
