Ironman 70.3 kick offs in Manila

BEFORE the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines hits the Queen City of the South, the much-awaited event will first kick off in Manila with a Send-Off Expo at the SMX Hall 2, SM Aura Premier on July 3 to 5.

The three-day activity will include the event’s press conference and launching on July 3, while the next two days will feature talks from experts and professionals in sports science, nutrition and disciplines.

The Send-Off Expo speakers are coaches Matt O’ Halloran of Alaska Tri-Aspire, Chris Allison, Ige Lopez and Ani de Leon-Brown of Triathlon Association of the Philippines (Trap).

They will share tips and knowledge on race day swim, drag racing, run leg, and nutrition for performance.

Also sharing their knowledge are Dr. Martin Camara, who will discuss sports science, Glenn Colendrino on bike fitness and Louie Sangalang.

The Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines will be held in Cebu for the fourth time in a row on Aug. 2. The race features a 1.9-kilometer swim, 90K bike and 21K run and covers the four key cities of Cebu—Lapu-Lapu, Cebu, Mandaue and Talisay.

The event had so much growth that when the registration for the Cobra Ironman 70.3 Philippines opened in October last year, it took less than an hour for all the slots to be filled out.

Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI), the group behind the Ironman Philippines, is headed by project director Princess Galura.
