Cop's brother nabbed in drug bust

A HIGH-VALUE target and brother of an active policeman was caught in a drug bust in the mountain barangay of Guba on Friday morning, August 25.

Senior Inspector Arieza Otida, chief of the Talamban Police Station, identified the subject as Jobelon Suquib, 41, from Sitio Kabulihan, Barangay Guba.

"He's the brother of Chief Inspector Gerald Suquib who is now in Cordillera Region. We placed him under two weeks surveillance after reports reached out that he's one of the big drug players in our area," Otida said.

Otida said Gerald, who was the former chief of the Mambaling Police Station, coordinated with them and regularly updated them of Jobelon’s whereabouts.

“He was probably happy that his brother had been neutralized without any untoward incidents,” the chief said.

The Talamban police chief said that Jobelon temporarily resided in Sitio Agnawe in the same barangay. He was caught disposing shabu at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Shabu with a Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P65,000 was confiscated from Jobelon.

He allegedly can dispose of 25-30 grams of shabu in the barangays of Guba, Adlaon, Pulangbato, Agsungot and Sirao.

In an interview, Jobelon admitted he used drugs and would sometimes sell them.

Nagpasalamat ra ko nga nadakpan ko nga maayo ang pagdakop kay naa pa man say pagbag-o (I’m just grateful I was arrested without any incident. I can still change),” he said.

Jobelon will face charges for the violation of Sec. 5 and Sec 11 of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (JOB)
