Students showcase, sell art in Davao mall

WELCOME fresh talent into your living room’s blank space and shop for your next art piece in Art for Everyone, a student art fair that runs from August 23 to 27, 2017.

The event, which is held simultaneously across select SM Supermalls in the country, opened its Davao City leg in SM Lanang Premier featuring works of high school and university students alike.

Art pieces from these schools will take center stage: University of Mindanao, Ateneo de Davao University, Asian International School of Aeronautics and Technology, University of Immaculate Concepcion, Ford Academy of the Arts, Davao City National High School, and Fashion Institute of Design and Arts Davao.

Apart from the exhibition, art talks and workshops are also scheduled for curious mall goers and art lovers alike.

These will be led by Joel Geolamen and Professor Abraham Garcia.

Geolamen, a visual artist from Davao del Norte, will lead an art talk on The Potentials in Drawing. He will demonstrate the basic techniques of drawing and how to produce innovative graphic works.

Garcia, an art educator, visual artist, curator, and cultural worker, will talk about how the "Filipino soul" can be depicted in art.

His talk, Reimagining the Filipino Soul: Eclectic Possibilities in Minda-now, Garcia will walk the audience through how diversity of culture and ethnicity in the country can be expressed through art.

Attendance to art talks is free but with limited seats. For Art for Everyone updates, follow @smlanangpremier in social media.
