Davao City environment office hiring 70 enforcers

THE Davao City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) is hiring 70 enforcers for its "Limpyo sa Baybay" project that aims to catch those who will throw garbage in coastal areas and riverbanks.

Madrazo said that applicants must be 18-35 years old, physically fit, and should submit required medical documents.

"They will undergo training so that they will be informed with environmental laws so that it will be clear to them," she said.

Madrazo said that the hiring of the enforcers does not mean that the barangays should depend on the city in cleaning up coastal areas.

"Dili totally ang barangay nga muingon magsalig sa city, ang i-hire sa city will be enforcers, manakop sila sa magpatakag labay ug mga barangay nga wala nag-atiman sa ilang coastal (Not to the point that the barangay will depend on the city. The hired enforcers will catch those who will not throw their garbage properly and also note the barangays who are not maintaining their coastal)," she added.

She added that since there are only more than 20 coastal barangays, the enforcers will also collect waste in riverbanks as part of Cenro's "Bantay Ilog" program.

Madrazo said they will conduct awareness campaign to inform the public the importance of marine life protection.
