Teen robber resists arrest, shot

AN 18-YEAR-OLD suspected robber was shot by a policeman when he resisted arrest at Barangay Igmaya-an, Salvador Benedicto town in Negros Occidental Saturday night, August 26.

Armed with a knife, Nixon Gadiano ransacked the house of Cynthia Flores around 10:30 p.m., police records showed.

He was caught by the house owner’s visitor who called for police assistance.

Policemen led by Senior Inspector Jovito Bose responded and looked for the suspect, who hid inside the car of the visitor.

Gadiano was asked to come out but he refused. He then fought the policemen, prompted one of them to shoot him on his feet.

He was brought to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.

Policemen recovered the suspect's 13-inch knife and stolen items, including P6,500 in cash, a ballpen, and assorted keys.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in a hot pursuit operation Friday after he robbed a school canteen together with his 19-year-old companion in Calatrava, Negros Occidental.

The name of the minor-suspect was withheld by the police.

The boy’s companion, who is at large, was identified as Vincent Billones, of Sitio Ruyo, Barangay Suba.

A school worker discovered around 8 a.m. that groceries worth P4,200 and cash amounting to P640 from the water dispenser of April Agraviador and Vena Tabares were missing.

The minor-suspect was turned over to the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
