THREE persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms in separate operations Monday night.
Juanito de la Cruz, 21, of Barangay Bonifacio, Cadiz City was arrested in a checkpoint operation conducted by personnel of Victorias City Police Station along the national highway at Hacienda Editha, Barangay 21.
Victorias City Police Station chief Santiago Rapiz said De la Cruz was on board a motorcycle, and when he was frisked, policemen recovered from his possession one .357 caliber with two live ammunition and one bullet shell of .357 caliber.
In San Enrique town, a couple was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and illegal drugs at Purok Pag-asa, Barangay Sibucao Monday evening.
Police identified the suspects as Raymund Cardenas, 31, and his live-in partner Ira Sta. Maria, 27, of Barangay 2, La Carlota City.
The suspects sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P500, police records show.
Police recovered from their possession one small, two small elongated, and one big heat sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, and the P500 marked money.
Also seized from them was a .38 caliber with five live ammunition.(MAP)
